3 Common Reasons Why Your Double Buggy From Birth Isn't Working (And How To Fix It)

Buying a Double Buggy From Birth

There are plenty of factors to consider when selecting the ideal double buggy from the time of birth. We spoke to Fourth Trimester postnatal retreat expert Katie Billingsley for her advice on everything from seating options and age ranges to folding mechanisms and storage space.

A must-have investment for families with active children This buggy will grow with your family from twins to toddlers. It is light, has great maneuverability and can handle uneven terrain with ease.

What type of buggy would you like?

A double buggy is perfect for transporting two children, but not necessarily of the same age, side by side. They can also be used as prams, and they have a reclining mechanism in each seat so your children can sit or lay down in various positions. They're often spacious enough to store everything from drinks and snacks to nappies and wipes. They're usually lightweight, fold easily and small enough to fit into your car boot. If you travel a significant deal, it's important to ensure that the buggy can be easily moved with the folded wheels in your boot and taken out.

You may have seen this kind of double buggy on other mums strollers, or even in one as a kid. They're ideal for twins who are older or who want to keep up with you. They also come in various seating configurations, including 'cinema seats'. They're usually pretty easy to drive and, if you decide to go for a model with soft suspension, they can be a breeze to get rid of kerbs.

Tandem buggies are a popular option since they're easier to turn than a side-by-side. The second seat is placed behind the first and not on top. They're typically larger than a side-by-side, and can be bulky when folded, so it's important to check they'll fit through doors and public transport. They can be used to transport twins, a toddler and an infant or three children by the addition of a buggy board.

Lastly there are the'single-to-double' convertibles which can be used as a single pushchair from birth then convert to a double by attaching a second seat, carrycot or car seat to their clever frame. They're generally more expensive than side-by-sides and tandem buggies but provide plenty of flexibility and a high resale value. They are easy to steer and come with an ample storage basket. They can also handle uneven surfaces. Some models even come with an integrated ride-on board that can be used as  cinema seating for your older child.

Do you have twins?

Double buggys are the most efficient method of transporting your children, regardless of whether they are twins or older siblings. There are two main types of double buggy: side-by-side buggies where your children sit together and tandem buggies in which one child is higher than the other. Both will accommodate 2 fixed seats, but side-by-side buggies tend to be narrower in width to allow for access through doors. Tandems are typically more spacious overall. They can also accommodate a carrycot as well as a toddler seats.

Do  tandem double stroller  have children?

At beginning having a younger sibling may seem like a lot of responsibility, particularly if you're also taking care of the baby. A double buggy may make it easier for them to feel included if you put them in a baby carrier and push the older child. It will also give your child the feeling of pride that comes with knowing that they are able to be "big brother or sister" and help them get used to their new role.

Side-by-side double buggies are often considered to be the best choice for twins because they allow both children to enjoy the same view, however they can be bulky and heavy. The Leclerc B-AGILE DUAL is a sleek double buggy with a unique frame which expands widthways and can accommodate two fixed seats. It also provides a variety of configuration options such as using the second seat as a bassinet.

We also recommend alternatively, we recommend the Mountain Buggy Double Trailblazer for active families who like to explore. This innovative buggy is a single-pushchair which can be made a double by adding an additional seat or carrycot (depending on the model). Its smooth ride is perfect for rough terrain and it has lots of clever features that will ensure that everyone is happy.

Do you require an automated travel system for your business?

Double buggies are excellent for transporting your children around in comfort, but they're not the ideal purchase for every family. You might be able to get by with just one stroller with a few attachments, such as baby carriers and toddler straps that permit you and your child to ride on their backs or in front.

If you choose to purchase a double buggy there are three kinds to choose from: side-by-side, tandem and convertible. Side-by-side buggies have the two seats that are close to each other, so your children can see each other. These buggies are wider than a single stroller, and may be difficult to maneuver over kerbs. Tandem buggies provide a more compact alternative, with a single seat in the front and another in the rear, however they are still long and heavy to push.

Convertible double buggies are great because they allow you to convert your stroller to an additional buggy by attaching an infant car seat or bassinet to the frame. You can keep your child in the car seat until he/she is able to climb into the buggy seat. The UPPAbaby Vista V2 is an excellent example of this - it's suitable for twins or a toddler and baby or even three kids with the the optional PiggyBack board.

When your children are older and have more endurance, a double-buggy can also be used to accompany them on bike rides or day trips where they'd prefer to walk. It's important to keep in mind that your children might not always be comfortable in a stroller and might get tired and angry during longer trips.

Before you purchase a double stroller, consider the above factors and your family's unique circumstances. A reliable and sturdy double buggy can make life easier, especially when you need to navigate through busy streets or crowded malls.
